Last Week At Tiffany's

This week was pretty good. It went by fast, which was what I was hoping for. The new mormon movie is finally out in theatres which means I don't have to see the previews for it every two minutes! Yes! On monday I went to Ikea with my aunt and uncle and there was SO much stuff I wanted to get. Then Tuesday we went to cub scouts... we played frisbee golf, which was kind of fun until the boys started using me as a target. The rest of the week blurred past, mostly with shopping, reading, and finishing up last minute things for school and housing...blah blah blah. Today I just went to church but my usual affiliates I sit next to weren't there so I had to resort to sitting alone. And I sat on an empty bench as the room filled, and then this guy came up to me and was like "you're not reserving this whole bench for you six boyfriends are you?" And I laughed and told him he was ridiculous, and he sat next to me and continued to flirt quite horribly. He talked all of his friends to come and sit on my bench and I started to feel a little....well, boxed in, by desperate men of the singles ward. But they were nice enough so I thought I could manage to play along for the next two hours. Since I've been home from church, it's been raining hecka hard and it's expected to be continued through tomorrow. But I went running anyway like I usually do, and even though my uncle thought I was crazy for going out in the storm, I actually liked it very much. The rain kept me cool and it looked amazingly pretty against the street lights. When I was almost back to the house, the thunder and lightning started, it was so beautiful, but at the same time a little scary so I hurried back. That is all the excitement in life for me right now so stay tuned... next week is expected to be much more eventful! I am hoping to finally move into my place!

Just A Little Pathetic

Today... yet another slow one. However there is a story. It was about lunchtime when I was overly delighted to hear that we were going shopping. Our destinations only included Wal Mart, Office Max, and some craft stores; but I remained delighted nonetheless. Anyway... there I was, happily wandering through the craft store making silly jokes to my grandmother and my aunt, completely unaware of what was coming toward me in the aisle straight ahead. And then I looked up, and there he was: the first Utahn guy who was worth looking at. I couldn't help but just look at his face, and smile at him. Then, he smiled back, and his smile, was the most beautiful thing I had seen since entering the state of Utah. And then, he said, "How's it goin'?" And I couldn't do anything but smile back in a daze. It was the first time I had come close to some kind of interaction with anyone my age ever since I entered this horrible state. Let alone a gorgeous man! So there is still hope for me in Utah! Yes, I know, like the title says, I'm hecka pathetic. But how am I supposed to help myself when a gleaming ray of light at the end of the tunnel presented itself in the form of a beautiful man?!

Day 2: A Rant, A Long Rant

Today was an adventure. We decided to go and check out my new school and my potential home for the upcoming school year. The first place we checked out was the Plaza Hotel, which apparently has two floors that have been turned into student housing. Now when I first encountered the idea of living in a hotel, I thought it would be awesome! Free access to a pool, spa, clubhouse room, continental breakfast, and excercise equipment... pretty sweet. But when we went to talk to the manager, she basically told us that the whole hotel was of limits except for the third and fourth floor. And the rooms... well let's just say they're not exactly what I expected. I think I let my hopes get a little too high. But being a poor college student, I guess I must learn to accept the living of a poor college student. So I think I will just have to deal with it. After we looked at housing we went to the mall where I met up with Amanda! We just shopped around, nothing amazing. But it was fun. But as everyone knows, after a day of shopping one starts to feel exceptionally exhausted. So we decided to go into Victoria's Secret as our last store so I could get a slip to wear under my bridesmaid dress. But I only found one and it was not white, and I needed white! And a lady who worked there was determined not to let me leave the store until I bought something. Oh geez! She went to the back to check for things, she took me through the whole store to show me different styles of all types and form of lingerie, and then she showed me their magazine and things I could buy online! And all the while poor Amanda and Madeline where just wandering around the store waiting for me to be done. So I told the lady I didn't want anything and that I was just going to leave. She looked kindof confused, and just smiled at me and said to come back another time. Ha, sure I will. So we finally left the mall, just dying to get home. But I parked at the Hotel which was about four blocks away from the mall, and I really didn't want to walk all the way back to it. So I asked Amanda if she would give me a ride to my car, and she said yes of course. Poor Amanda... she didn't know any better. We started off perfectly fine. Found the hotel, but we couldn't turn into it because we were on the other side of the trax. So we continued down the road and we could not find anywhere to make a U-turn. And then we hit construction. So we made a right turn and every stoplight had a sign that said NO U-TURNS. So after about ten minutes we finally found a place to make a U-turn and I finally arrived safely at my car. Then I decided for the millionth time that I completely detest Utah, especially its HORRIBLE roads. AND THE NAMES OF THEM!! I CANNOT STAND the names of the streets! 145232456 west 968540 southeast??? What kind of street name? Bond Road. Now there is a good solid street name that just makes sense. Go to Bond Road. It just works! Stupid Utah. And the phrases. Oh do not get me started on their phrases! Oh my heck. A girl said that at the mall today. WHO says that?? UGH! Hecka. That is perfect. Not "oh fetch", NOT "oh my heck". Hecka. Now that is a phrase at perfection. So I have decided, in order to maintian my californian-ness, I am going to make sure that I include the word hecka at least once in every one of my posts. Okay so back to my day. So I made it safely to the Olive Garden where me family was eating, and my cousin Cayden (my new best friend mentioned in previous post) greeted my with the biggest, cutest smile and he just said "hi nally, I missed you". I could have died, it was the most adorable thing in the world. He is hecka cute. Hecka. Anyway, I went to Wal-Mart afterwards to buy a GPS and I happened to discover the cheapest bras I have ever seen, and they have cute ones, in my size-- total bliss. Then we saw Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, which was pretty good. But the lady in the back laughing the most hearty laugh she could muster was so much more entertainment. And now I am here. All in all: an adventure.

The First Day of My New Utahn Life

As of right now I am sitting on the couch in my new home for the month of August. We arrived here at about five in the morning and I have not slept at all in the past 28 hours. Well, except for the fleeting moment when I had just started to doze off while watching Madagascar with my cousins, and the two year old Cayden decides to pretend he's a rooster and crow in my ear repeatedly. He was NOT going to let me sleep because seeing as I'm his new best friend, I must spend every waking moment devoting my attention to him. But it is probably for my own good, for the reason that when I awake from a nap I am the meanest possible version of myself and there is nothing that I can do to stop the monster from being unleashed besides to not take any naps in the first place. So I won't complain. Anyway, the issue of my college education is just a tangled web that is getting more and more tangled just as fast as the first day of school is approaching. But besides that, I think once I am settled, my life as a Utahn will work out and I'm pretty optimistic about how it's going to turn out. Well, Cayden calls...
